“Only One Pound”

Hello! Do you know me?

If you don’t, you should. I’m a pound of fat.

And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why?

It’s because no one ever wants to lose me.

I’m only one pound, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat.

Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it.

That is until I’ve grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it’s fun being only one pound of fat, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, “Oh, I only lost one pound.”

(As if that were such a terrible thing)

For you see, if you do this, you’ll encourage others to keep me around because they’ll think I’m not worth losing.

And, I love being around you-your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

After all, I’m only one pound of fat!!!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This was from an anonymous author but it is a good poem for those girls and boys who wants to lose weight. You might think losing just a pound is so sad…well think twice or thrice or even more….

I started losing in April this year after a personal tragedy. Thank you but I don’t want your pity. It’s just a catalyst. Anyway, emotional sadness is a big factor but it happened to me anyway. Find your own catalyst. I was eating less and doing some self-pity and more physical exercise. My irregular work schedule helped me also to avoid fastfood and other junkfood. Stayed away from pork and other high cholesterol dishes. Followed this rule “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper”. And so I started to lose weight one pound at a time and my only goal then was to reach the normal Body Mass Index for my age and height. I did not compare myself with others and I just went on with my thing for months. My goal now is to fit into my favorite college jeans which is patiently waiting for me in my closet.

According to a fitness guru, it is realistic to lose 2 pounds in a week. Just relax and keep it going. Never mind the distraction and just focus on your goal. Success is truly for those who work hard for it one day at a time or should I say 1 pound at a time.
